In her investiture speech read on Saturday 13th March 2021, Dr. Mrs. Regina Okyere-Dankwa (Principal, OLA College of Education) among other priorities set, efficient utilization of Internally Generated Funds (IGF) to support the smooth running of the college.
The College had had a challenge with the movement of lecture hall tables and chairs to the College’s auditorium during the examination period. The frequent movement of the furniture brought some hardships to the Students and also some of the furniture was always damaged in the process.
To halt the rampant movement of lecture hall tables and chairs during examination periods, Dr. Mrs. Regina Okyere-Dankwa has procured five hundred (500) tables and chairs with internally generated funds for the college to be used only during examination periods.
This gesture has been commended by the College community–staff and students-and the outdooring of the furniture was timely for the end of second-semester examinations. The current level 100 students who had the rare opportunity to use it for their end-of-second semester examination were full of praise to management for such a feat. Meanwhile, some of the level 200 and 300 students the documentation desk interacted with on the procurement of the new furniture their comments could be summed up as “…. with the newly procured tables and chairs, the frequent carrying of furniture will stop, and we cannot wait to sit on them for our examinations commencing on month, 9th August 2021”.
In her brief remarks, to staff and students present at the outdooring of the furniture, the Principal, urge the College community to cultivate great maintenance culture to ensure that the furniture and other assets long for a relatively long time.
Concluding a brief outdooring ceremony, Rev. Fr. Dr. Anthony Kofi Sackey, the College Chaplain, blessed the furniture for the College.
