Portfolio Assessment of newly qualified teachers, a calculated attempt by the government to delay and deny Some NQTs posting to delay and deny Some NQTs posting

It is disheartening and sad to hear the agony and plight of 2020 batch of NQTs. We were made to understand that one needs to be licensed to qualify him or her as a teacher in Ghana. As a result of which the teacher licensure examination came into being.
In 2020, over 8000+ trained teachers mysteriously failed in the 2020 licensure exams.

Fast forward, the government of the day’s agenda not to employ the 2020 batch of trained teachers who are currently undertaking their one year mandatory National Service teamed up with the NTC to introduced what is called Portfolio Assessment for NQTs.

These National Service Personnels have no knowledge about this portfolio assessment. It is shocking to know that even permanent teachers who have been in the field for sometime now have no knowledge about this portfolio. One would have thought that since this whole process is a novelty and looking at it cumbersome nature, a workshop would be organised to sensitise these service personnels if only NTC really mean well for these new initiative but they decided to put them in the dark, with no official communication to them, only to see their names been listed with their assessors at the eleventh hour of their service year. This clearly shows that it’s deliberate attempt to eliminate some NQTs with rough tactics.
My question now is, why did they even write the licensure exams in the first place? Even if this portfolio assessment is really key in rasing the standard of teachers as they are making it look like, why not testing it with the in- Service teachers so they could mentor the NQTs? Why personnels who are yet to be employed? They are supposed to learn from these permanent teachers but how could personnels build a portfolio of 21 requirements when their mentors have no knowledge about the whole thing. suprisingly one needs to score 60% and more before the person can be employed, This clearly tells the wicked agenda of the government.

Trained teachers were told they need to pass licensure exams and also undertake the mandatory National Service before they can be employed. Today, the story has suddenly changed to portfolio assessment and not your ability to pass the license exams.
This is the time that all well meaning Ghanaians speak up.
Over 15000+ Newly Qualified Teachers are set to be denied posting if Ghanaians fail to speak up. Some of this assessors will only go and expect money from the service personnels to past them and nothing more.

The portal for permanent posting which was due to have been opened in September is still not open for the NQTs to apply.
I am using this medium to entreat everybody who matters and cares for the NQTs to speak on this matter at all vantage points where all Ghanaians will hear of this maltreatment to the NQTs.
