Chelsea Football Club is set to win their first trophy in 2022 in Abu Dhabi this week.
The Blues, are in the Club World Cup and are facing Al Hilal in the semi-finals who beats their opponent in a 6-1 victory to face Chelsea.
Champions from six continental confederation participates in this competition. Also, league leaders from host nation also automatically participates.
From the English Premier League, only Manchester United (2008) and Liverpool (2019) have won this silverware ever since the competition started (2000).
This is the second time Chelsea is participating in the competition. After the winning the Champions League in 2012, Chelsea took part in the Club World Cup which was held in Japan. They only lose to Corinthians by 1 goal to nil in the final.
In the current Chelsea squad, only Mateo Kovacic has won this trophy. He won it with Real Madrid. In the final against Corinthians, Azpilicueta is the only player who was in the them Chelsea team.
Reece James, Ben Chilwell are completely out and can’t play. Mason Mount is also a doubt for today’s match. In addition, the team’s manager, Thomas Tuchel will watch the from home after being discovered as COVID-19 positive.
Al Hilal is also making their second their second appearance in this competition. They finished 4th in their first appearance in 2019. If they qualify to the finals, they will be the Saudi Arabian side to make it to the finals.
