Teacher trainees to be exempted from licensure examination- Dr. Christian Addai Poku

Dr. Addai Poku, the Registrar at National Teaching Council (NTC) said that teacher trainees in the 46 colleges of education to be exempted from licensure examination.

Dr. Addai Poku, in his message to the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana yesterday assured them success of his new implementation.

He went further to explain his reasons behind the implementation of the new policy which centered on the introduction of entrance examination to colleges of education. The new implemented policy is called Ghana Basic Education Skills Test (GBEST).

He then went further to say that the new freshers into the colleges of education would write entrance exams before admitted fully into the 46 colleges. The exams is going to be on literacy and numeracy. He stated that teacher trainees are going to be accessed in the area of their specialization or field of study. And there would not be the need to write this exams again after completion.

Until the implementation of GBEST, trained teachers are to prepare for the licensure examination before posting to the respective work places.
