WAEC gives date to register JHS students for 2022 BECE

The management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) says it will from Tuesday, May 3, 2022, to Friday, June 10, 2022, register JHS students for the 32nd edition of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

WAEC in a statement copied to EducationWeb said only third-year students in various public and private Junior High Schools (JHSs) across the country will be considered for the forthcoming 2022 BECE for School registration.

Explaining the soon to commence 2022 BECE School registration process, the African Examinations Council said May 3 to June 10, 2022, will be used for capturing eligible final year students’ information, subject selection and pictures.

Downloading of CASS software, capturing of candidates’ scores and subsequent uploading of data online the management of the not-for-profit-making organization said will start from June 27, 2022, to August 12, 2022.

According to the Council, the downloading of school choices software, selection of schools and subsequent uploading of data online will also begin on July 4, 2022, and end on September 2, 2022, for all schools across the country.

“Please note that it is extremely important that the correct subjects are selected during the registration exercise. Finalise your registration data only after all corrections have been affected,” WAEC said in the release to school heads.

In a related development, the Minister for Education, Dr Adutwum has cautioned heads of public Junior High Schools to desist from demanding monies before registering prospective students for the impending national examination.

The Education Minister in a discussion said the registration fee for the 32nd edition of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to be conducted by WAEC has fully been absorbed by the government.

“The government has absorbed the BECE registration fees of all public Junior High Schools. It is not true we have directed heads of schools to demand money for the registration,” he told an Accra-based television station.

Asked when the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) will administer the 32nd edition of the BECE for School Candidates, the Bosomtwe Member of Parliament said the date in due course will be communicated to the public.
